Stranger On The Fifth Floor - 7" (Vinyl Japan -
PAD85)
Monday 23rd May 2005
Following the success of their sixth studio album "Named and Shamed", The
Flaming Stars return with the second single from the album. The A-side was
recorded last summer at the now infamous Toe Rag Studios and on the flip
there’s a live version of perennial favourite "New Hope for the Dead", recorded
at a storming gig at Gleis 22 in Munster.
Stranger is a fantastic slice of the best garage rock around – brooding vocals
and a punchy guitar sound, the perfect primer for their up-coming dates.
"Stranger on the Fifth Floor, a ramshackle mess of brilliantly
bruised guitar wearing a broken heart on it’s leather sleeve, has a lairy
shuffle that might suit The Libertines" - Mojo
Available from all good music outlets.

The album is likely to be released in the autumn, with a possible single
emerging around the same time. More news on this, of course, as I get it...

A Walk on the Wired Side
(Vinyl Japan - ASKCD 121)
Recorded in August 2000 at Sweet Georgie Brown's in London Vinyl Japan present
the new album 'A Walk On The Wired Side'. The Flaming Stars sound has undergone
a subtle change, giving it a new sophistication, constantly fighting with the
deep-down sleaze 'n' roll which has become their trademark. Thus this album
heralds a new era in the Stars' career that will keep fans trembling with
anticipation with every spine-quivering twang. If you get a chance to see them,
they come highly recommended live as well as on record. If not, turn the light
down low, take a swig of Jack Daniels from the bottle, then site back, close
your eyes and enjoy The Flaming stars.
